HAVEN at the High-Level Managerial Course on Renewable Energy and Energy Transition
RES4Africa, a partner of the HAVEN project, together with Enel Foundation and UM6P – University Mohammed VI Polytechnic, hosted the in-person phase of the Third Edition of the High-Level Managerial Course on Renewable Energy and the Energy Transition in Ben Guerir, Morocco from April 15–22, 2026, where professionals from North and West Africa convened for an intensive week of practical learning and peer exchange.
HAVEN participation
HAVEN played an active role in the on-site programme, contributing technical expertise and practical guidance aimed at accelerating decarbonization of the power sector across the region. Our engagement focused on sharing scalable tools, lessons from pilot activities, and actionable approaches tailored for utility managers, regulators, and policy makers.
The session featured a joint presentation by Leticia Castrejon, coordinator of the HAVEN project and representative of the BRING partner, and Paolo Cutrone from RES4Africa. Their presentation covered:
• Project overview and geographic scope.
• Main objectives to support renewable integration and strengthen institutional capacity.
• Core activities including capacity building, pilot demonstrations, and stakeholder engagement.
• Expected impacts for utilities, regulators, and private-sector partners.
The presentation emphasized concrete pathways for integrating renewables at scale and highlighted HAVEN’s role in supporting policy design, technical capacity, and regional cooperation.
On-site week highlights
The in-person programme combined theory and hands-on practice to maximize learning for mid- and senior-level professionals:
• Interactive workshops and case studies led by academic and industry experts.
• Direct engagement with practitioners from utilities, regulators, and project developers.
• Hands-on activities and simulations focused on grid planning and market design.
• Peer-to-peer exchange to share regional best practices and lessons learned.
Participants left with practical tools and strengthened networks to advance energy transition projects in their home countries.
HAVEN’s contribution reinforced the project’s commitment to building managerial and technical capacity needed to unlock renewable investments and modernize power systems. By focusing on practical, replicable solutions, HAVEN aims to accelerate the deployment of resilient, low-carbon energy systems that support sustainable development across Africa and Europe.
