The HAVEN project was featured at the KEY – Energy Transition Expo 2026, held from 4–6 March in Rimini, Italy. Recognised as one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to renewable energy and the energy transition, KEY brings together international stakeholders from industry, research, policy, and innovation to explore the technologies shaping a sustainable energy future.
The HAVEN project was represented by RES4Africa Foundation during the session titled “Solar PV/Wind Power and Battery Storage Systems: the Key to Energy Self-Sufficiency – Driving Africa’s Energy Transition,” which took place on 5 March 2026 at Rimini Fiera.
The session gathered experts and leaders from across the energy sector to discuss the crucial role of renewable energy sources combined with battery energy storage systems (BESS) in enabling reliable, resilient, and self-sufficient energy systems. The discussion highlighted how the integration of solar and wind power with advanced storage technologiescan support grid stability, improve energy security, and unlock new economic opportunities, particularly in emerging energy markets across Africa.
During the panel discussion, speakers explored the latest technological developments in energy storage systems and their growing role in facilitating large-scale renewable energy deployment. The session also addressed the opportunities and challenges associated with deploying integrated renewable energy and storage solutions in regions with rapidly growing energy demand.
The HAVEN project contributes directly to these efforts by developing an innovative Hybrid Energy Storage System (HESS) that combines high-energy batteries, high-power storage technologies, and advanced cognitive power electronics. The project also integrates a Digital Twin platform designed to optimise system design and operation, enabling more efficient, flexible, and intelligent energy management for both grid services and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Participation in KEY – Energy Transition Expo 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to showcase HAVEN’s technological vision and to engage with international stakeholders working on renewable energy deployment, battery innovation, and energy storage integration.
