On 9 January 2026, the HAVEN project was presented at the Transfer of Good Practices ROAD3P event, held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The event was organised by the Slovenian Hydro Institute and brought together around 30 participants from the scientific community, public institutions, policy-making bodies, and the general public.
The ROAD3P event aimed to foster peer-to-peer exchange among Horizon Europe – Cluster 5 projects, with a particular focus on how research and innovation ideas are translated from strategic vision into concrete, real-world results. Discussions centred on strengthening mutual learning between project implementers, improving proposal preparation, and enhancing project execution across climate, energy, and mobility topics.
The HAVEN project was represented by project partner IRI UL – University of Ljubljana, alongside several national research and innovation actors, including the National Institute of Chemistry, the Institute of Metals and Technology (IMT), and other Slovenian institutes active in sustainable energy, construction, and urban planning.
During the session, Edin Lakić (IRI UL) presented a portfolio of Horizon Europe projects addressing key challenges of the green transition. Within this context, HAVEN was highlighted for its work on hybrid energy storage solutions, combining high-energy and high-power technologies to support long-duration storage and multi-service grid applications. The presentation showcased how HAVEN contributes to increasing grid flexibility, supporting renewable energy integration, and enabling resilient, low-carbon energy systems.
The event concluded with a roundtable discussion among project implementers, offering an open forum to share experiences, challenges, and lessons learned. Key topics included:
- Writing competitive and well-structured Horizon Europe proposals
- Ensuring effective and realistic project implementation
- Strengthening collaboration within consortia and with external stakeholders
- Maximising long-term impact beyond the project lifetime
By participating in the ROAD3P event, HAVEN contributed to a broader dialogue on how European research projects can move more effectively from vision to results. Such initiatives play a crucial role in reinforcing knowledge transfer, building capacity among project teams, and ensuring that Horizon Europe investments deliver tangible benefits for society, the energy system, and the climate transition.
